PRODUCTS AND MATERIALS
We work hard to keep our design and production costs low so we can continue to offer you low prices. But we also make sure our low prices never come at the expense of people and the environment. That's why we build our products with materials and methods that are easy on the environment and pose no hazards for the workers who make them or the families who use them. We also use renewable and recyclable materials whenever possible.

SUPPLIERS
IKEA insists on suppliers that provide safe, healthy and non-discriminatory working conditions for employees. We do not accept child labour and support many programs that work to prevent it. IKEA works only with suppliers who follow sound environmental and forestry practices.

ENERGY AND TRANSPORT
By improving efficiency in the transport of our products and reducing our energy use, we're contributing to worldwide efforts to slow climate change. Globally, we've set a target of improving energy consumption by 25 per cent in our stores, distribution centres and factories.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
IKEA is an active member of the community, involved in international, national and local projects. We're partners with global organizations such as UNICEF, Save the Children, WWF and Tree Canada on activities that focus on children, women and the environment.

OUR ENERGY COMMITMENT
One of IKEA’s goals was to become 25% more energy-efficient than we were in 2005 in our stores, distribution centres, and factories around the world. As of April 2009, IKEA Canada has done it. We spent seven months integrating more efficient technologies and environmentally minded practices. The end result is a 25% reduction in our in-store energy consumption. We’re still looking for ways to further reduce our energy consumption, with a global long-term goal to use 100% renewable energy.
