We think the sun is great for a lot of things. Like warmth and tan lines. But it’s also an incredible source of renewable energy.
So to tap into that, IKEA Canada has outfitted three of our Ontario rooftops with solar panels. 3,790 panels to be exact. That has made us the first retailer in Canada to exclusively own, install and operate what is expected to be the largest solar panel networks under the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program. These sun-loving panels will generate about 960,000 kWh of renewable energy every year. That’s enough to power about 100 homes for a year. But that’s just a start. IKEA’s global goal is to install 150 solar rooftops over the next three years. How’s that for a bright idea?
